![]() ![]() Movies worked fine, sounds played great, everything seemed to work just good. Then I switched compatibility mode to Windows XP SP3. With quick test, movies started working, but sounds played rather distorted. I played through Selenitic Age.Īfter returning with a page and seeing only black box on a book, I decided to try to get the movies working as well, thus I changed compatibility mode to Windows 98. Other than that, there were no crashes, I was able to save the game, sounds played out great. The easiest way to consider these games are in pairs: Myst/Riven, Exile/Revelation, Uru/End of Ages.Full detail about how I ended up to these settingsAt first I launched the game without changing anything, and it worked all fine, with one exception - no movies, including movie-based animations (blue and red books were "dead", holo-pool had no animation, etc). One last thing: Ubisoft developed Myst 3 and 4 the Cyan games are Myst, Riven, Uru, and Myst 5. (Also, the gameplay goes through a pretty logical evolution through the above order: from static shots to 360-degree shots to full 3D motion.) Thing is, though, both Uru and Myst 5 take place several decades after the events of the first four games, so I'd recommend playing them in the above order instead. The release schedule is slightly different, as Uru was released BEFORE Myst 4. Chronologically, it takes place after the D'ni restoration of Uru fails (which is to say- in the real world, it was released after Myst Online was deemed a failure). LOLīear in mind that Myst V is more a sequel to Uru than Myst 4. I actually didn't know about realMYST Masterpiece until I came to this post. Has a couple of differences and extra things not available in Complete Chronicles. Myst Online: Uru Live - Uru except with an online component, and instead takes place after End of Ages (when it first came online during the gametap days, it took place before and then during End of Ages, but now it takes place after).look at the very next entry instead if you're interested in this one. Has a strange control scheme that is similar to End of Ages'. Uru: Complete Chronicles - Technically End of Ages' sequel, but is more like Myst 4.5.Has real-time 3D graphics and free movement. Myst V: End of Ages - The sequel to Revelation.Has identical gameplay/controls to that of Exile. ![]()
